Sunday Workshops
Back at Commonwealth Place

In 2011, Workshops will be held on Sunday June 12th

Dance Pacifica will host workshops on the day following the Gala Ball and Competition.  In 2011, it will be Sunday, June 12th and Benoit Drolet has agreed to conduct a couple of sessions in standard while Delphine Romaire will present a latin workshop.  For additional information on the workshops and these two highly acclaimed dancers, please see our Workshop page.

They will start at 10:30AM at Saanich Commonwealth Place.  Further information is available at our workshops page.

Commonwealth Place is only 20 minutes drive from the Swartz Bay ferry terminal and the Victoria International Airport.

Membership Renewal Time

A reminder to DSBC members that Dance Pacifica is the first DanceSport competition of the year.  Those wishing to compete will need to renew their membership either before or at Dance Pacifica.

Dance Pacifica Competitor Information

Dancers and competitors of all ages, dancing at all levels of the Ballroom and/or Latin International style syllabus are encouraged to register and compete at Dance Pacifica. This is your page, with details on Dance Pacifica registration, prizes, travel assistance, accommodation, transportation, and ticket information for competitors.


Competitor Registration

For 2011 Competitions, please register at:  DP Registrar (see notes below under the Dance Table.

A full suite of events is offered in Standard and Latin from newcomer to open championship levels. As well, Pro/Am Competitions at the BRONZE and SILVER levels are offered.

Pro/Am SOLO ROUTINES may also be registered. The cost per Solo Routine is $50.00 payable to: Victoria Ballroom Dance Society, P.O. Box 35024, RPO Hillside, Victoria, B.C. V8T 5G2

The prize money for the winners of the Vancouver Island Open Adult Standard & Latin Championships is:

  • First prize: $600
  • Second prize: $400
  • Third prize: $300

Transportation

You can travel to Vancouver Island by air or by ferry.

Airlines

Victoria is serviced by:

Float plane services are also available from Vancouver and Seattle.

Ferries

The following ferry companies service Victoria through terminals in Victoria or in nearby communities:

BC Ferries (www.bcferries.com) travels from Tsawwassen, 30 km south of Vancouver to Swartz Bay terminal, 34 km north of Victoria. BC Ferries carry cars and foot passengers. Depending on the day of the week and time of the year, sailings are at least once every two hours from 7am to 9pm, and more often on weekends and during summer months.

Washington State Ferries (www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/) travels from Anacortes Island and the mainland to Sidney, 29 km north of Victoria. Cars and passengers carried.

Blackball Ferry Line (www.cohoferry.com) travels from Port Angeles to downtown Victoria and deposits travellers within walking distance of all major hotels. The ferry also carries cars.

Victoria Clipper (www.clippervacations.com) offers passenger only service on high speed ferries from Seattle to downtown Victoria.

Local Transportation and BILLETING

Local transportation for competitors travelling as foot passengers (BC Ferries, Coho Ferry or, Anacortes Ferry) or, flying into Victoria's International Airport:  If you choose to travel to Victoria as a foot passenger (i.e. you do not bring a car) or, are flying in, Dance Pacifica will pick you up at your ferry terminal/airport and deliver you to your hotel and return you to the same after the competition.

There is a LIMITED number of billeting opportunities. Please contact us soon if you wish to find accommodation with a hosting family.

Tickets for Competitors

Special Unreserved Seating Competitor Tickets - Dance Pacifica is pleased to be able to offer reduced ticket prices for competitors.

All competitors must have a full day ticket except for students competing in the day time only program. Those students must have a day-time only ticket.

A special section has been set aside for competitors only. The seats in this section are NOT reserved. These tickets are available at a special price for the whole day and evening.

Competitors who wish to have a reserved seat must purchase a Full Event riser ticket.  Also, to partake the gala dinner at The Olive Grove restaurant requires the purchase of a separate ticket.   Dinner information can be obtained by emailing Dinner Ticket Information

Full Event tickets only are taken up to the Island Fantasy Ball in May--Competitor tickets are not available at IFB.
